Betting tips by market
On this page
These betting tips are sorted by market, so you can start from the bet type that fits the match in front of you instead of forcing every game into a home win. Open any card above for today’s picks in that market, the odds we took and how that market has performed over the last 30 days.
Choosing the right market for the match in front of you
The same research can point to very different bets. A good tip starts with the likely shape of the game, then looks for the market that pays best for that shape.
Tight derbies and cagey, low-scoring games
When both teams’ recent matches average fewer than 2.2 goals and neither coach can afford to lose, picking a winner is guesswork. Our under 2.5 goals picks back the low score directly, and the draw no bet picks let you support the side you prefer while getting your stake back if it ends level. A straight draw pays most but lands least.
Clear mismatches
A strong home side against a struggling visitor is often priced at 1.20 to 1.35 to win, which is poor value on its own. A -1 handicap tip pays more because the favourite must win by two or more. If the visitors rarely score away, our clean sheet tips are the alternative, and straight home win picks suit favourites priced fairly, not cheaply.
Two open, attacking sides
Teams that both score and concede most weeks push you towards goals markets. The GG/BTTS picks need one goal from each side, over 2.5 needs three in total, and when both sides attack down the flanks and force blocks, corners tips often hold more value than the goals line.
Physical games, players and big prices
Relegation fights and derbies with a strict referee lean towards card markets, priced on the referee’s average bookings as much as on the teams. Correct score and HT/FT offer the biggest odds and the lowest strike rate; our correct score tips suit small stakes only.
Shots-on-target and goalscorer markets depend on one player starting, so they are best placed after line-ups are confirmed. A striker priced to score from a confirmed starting role is a very different bet from the same price when he might begin on the bench.
Coin-toss games and overpriced favourites
When the two sides are closely matched but one is clearly undervalued, double chance picks cover two of the three results. In a game where the home win is rated 40% and the draw 30%, 1X covers 70%, so fair odds are 1 ÷ 0.70 = 1.43. Anything above that price is worth a look; anything well below it is not.
How our tips are produced and recorded
Each market tip starts from the same match model as our full list of daily predictions: form, home and away splits, goals and expected goals, head-to-head and team news. Then each market adds its own data. Corners tips use corners won and conceded per game; cards tips use referee and foul numbers; GG tips use how often each side scores and fails to keep a clean sheet.
We then turn that into a probability and compare it with the bookmaker’s price. If our estimate is not higher than the price implies, there is no tip, however likely the outcome is. Every tip goes live before kick-off with the odds we took and a confidence score from 1 to 5, and it is settled afterwards as won, lost or void in the results table above. Void covers cases such as a postponed match or a draw no bet tip that ends level.
That is why some market cards show no tip on a given day. If corners lines are priced tightly across every match, the corners page stays empty rather than forcing a pick. A tip has to pass the price test, and on some days that means fewer of them.
How to read a market’s 30-day record
Each market card shows a hit rate, and a hit rate on its own misleads. What decides profit is the hit rate measured against the average odds.
Example Market A wins 75% of its tips at average odds of 1.30. One hundred ₦1,000 bets return 75 × ₦1,300 = ₦97,500, a ₦2,500 loss. Market B wins only 45% at average odds of 2.40: 45 × ₦2,400 = ₦108,000, an ₦8,000 profit. The market that “wins less” is the better one to follow.
A quick test for any record: divide 1 by the average odds to get the break-even hit rate. At average odds of 1.80 that is 55.6%; a market winning 60% of its tips at that price is ahead, while one winning 52% is behind, however good a run of green ticks looks.
Thirty days is also a short window for long-odds markets. Correct score or HT/FT can go two weeks without a winner and still finish the month ahead, so judge those on a longer run.
Copying a tip into your bookmaker correctly
The same bet often carries a different label from one bookmaker to the next, and placing the wrong one is a common, avoidable loss.
- GG/NG and BTTS are the same market: GG means both teams score, NG means at least one fails to.
- Double chance appears as 1X, X2 or 12; 12 means either team wins, not “home or draw”.
- Handicaps may be written as -1, 0:1 or 1:0 depending on the site. Check which team carries the handicap before you confirm, and whether the line is European (three outcomes) or Asian (draw refunded or split).
- Corners and cards lines can count the whole match or only regular time; extra time is normally excluded, but read the market rules.
Singles or accumulators?
A single is judged on its own, so one loss costs one stake. An accumulator multiplies the odds and the risk together: every leg must win.
Example Three tips at 1.70 each. As three ₦1,000 singles, two winners return ₦3,400 on ₦3,000 staked, a ₦400 profit. As one ₦3,000 treble at 1.70 × 1.70 × 1.70 = 4.913, the same two winners return nothing, while three winners return ₦14,739.
Singles suit the tips you rate most; small accas suit the occasional bigger return. If you do combine, keep to two or three legs and avoid putting two tips from the same match together, because they usually succeed or fail as one. For a ready-built multiple, see our daily acca tips.
Staking basics
- Set a bankroll. Money put aside only for betting, never rent or school fees.
- Stake 1 to 2% per tip. On a ₦20,000 bankroll that is ₦200 to ₦400 a bet, which survives a run of ten losers.
- Keep stakes level. Doubling up after a loss turns a normal bad week into a broken bankroll.
- Stake less on long odds. A correct score tip at 8.00 deserves a fraction of what a 1.60 goals tip gets.
- Record every bet. After 50 bets you will know which markets actually work for you.
Level staking also makes our record easy to compare with yours. Because every tip in the results table is treated as one equal unit, you can see what a market would have returned on ₦1,000 a tip and decide whether its swings suit your budget.
Common mistakes with betting tips
- Taking a tip after the price has crashed. A tip at 2.10 that you take at 1.70 is a different, weaker bet.
- Stacking ten “safe” picks. Ten legs at 80% each win together only about one time in nine.
- Betting markets you cannot explain. If Asian handicap or HT/FT settlement is unclear, read the betting terms glossary first.
- Ignoring void rules. Draw no bet and some handicap lines return stakes; know when before you count a win.
- Judging a tipster on one weekend. Thirty or more settled tips with odds attached tell you something; five tell you nothing.
- Betting every market on one match. Over 2.5, GG and a home win on the same game are three bets on one idea; if the idea is wrong, all three lose together.
Frequently asked questions
Low-odds markets such as over 1.5 goals and double chance land most often, but they pay least, so a high hit rate there can still lose money. Judge a market by hit rate and average odds together, which the 30-day record on each market page shows.
Only when they come with the odds taken, a reason and a settled record that includes losses. Free tips without those details cannot be checked. Use them as a starting point, compare the price you can get, and skip any tip you cannot explain.
A common approach is 1 to 2% of a bankroll set aside only for betting, the same amount on every tip. With ₦10,000 put aside, that means ₦100 to ₦200 per bet. Drop the stake further on long-odds markets like correct score.
Void means the stake is returned and the bet counts as neither a win nor a loss. It happens when a match is postponed or abandoned under bookmaker rules, or when a draw no bet tip ends in a draw.
Singles keep each tip separate, so one loser does not wipe out the winners. An acca pays more but every leg must land. Many punters bet their strongest picks as singles and put a small stake on a two- or three-leg multiple.
