On this page
These La Liga predictions cover Spain’s top division from the Friday-night opener to the Monday-night closer. The picks above show each match’s kick-off in WAT, our market, the odds and a confidence score. One rule sets Spanish football apart for betting: clubs level on points are split by head-to-head record first, which changes how late-season matches should be read.
LaLiga in numbers
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Clubs | 20 |
| Matches | 38 per club, 380 per season |
| Season | August to May |
| Relegated | Bottom three, to the Segunda División |
| Promoted | Top two of the Segunda, plus a play-off winner from 3rd–6th |
| Champions League | Top four, sometimes a fifth via UEFA coefficient |
Head-to-head decides ties, and that changes betting
In most leagues, clubs level on points are separated by overall goal difference. Spain puts head-to-head first. When two clubs finish level, the one with the better goal difference across their two meetings ranks higher; with three or more clubs level, a mini-table of points between them comes first.
That rule turns certain fixtures into what are effectively six-point games with a margin attached. Suppose a club won the first meeting 2-0. In the return fixture, its rival needs to win by three goals to take the head-to-head, so a 1-0 win may not be enough if the two finish level. Late in the season, managers know this and plan for it.
Three-way ties work differently. If clubs A, B and C all finish on 40 points, only the six matches between those three count at first. A club that lost heavily to the other two can rank below them even with a far better overall goal difference, so we check the mini-table rather than the main one when three or more clubs are bunched near the drop.
For betting, it can mean a team already holding the head-to-head is happy with a draw, while a team chasing it may need more than a narrow win. In April and May we work out these scenarios for clubs near the relegation line and the European places before rating the match.
Kick-off times: Spain to Nigeria
A LaLiga round is spread across four days, usually starting with one match on Friday and ending with one on Monday, with the rest over the weekend from early afternoon. The late slot is 21:00 Spanish time.
Mainland Spain uses Central European Time, which equals WAT from the last Sunday in October to the last Sunday in March. During those months a 21:00 game in Madrid starts at 21:00 in Abuja. The rest of the year Spain is an hour ahead, so the same match starts at 20:00 WAT. Times on the picks above are already converted.
What we look for in a Spanish fixture
Club-by-club goal patterns
Spanish clubs differ sharply in style, from high-possession sides to compact teams that defend deep and counter. We use each club’s own goals and expected-goals record rather than a league-wide reputation, because the gap between the most open and most closed teams is wide.
Home and away splits
Some clubs are much stronger in their own stadium, especially those whose pitch size or crowd suits a pressing game. We compare home-only and away-only numbers before trusting a season average.
Midweek rounds and Europe
The calendar occasionally includes a full midweek round, and clubs in the Champions League or Europa League play on Tuesday to Thursday. A Monday-night game followed by a Thursday European trip is a tough turnaround, and we lower our rating on teams facing it.
Early-season heat
August and September matches in the south of Spain can be played in serious heat, especially in afternoon slots. Tempo often drops in the second half of those games, so we are slower to back high goal lines in early rounds played before the evening.
Referee and booking data
Card counts vary a lot by official. Where the appointment is known in time, our bookings picks use it.
Best markets for LaLiga betting tips
- Unders and NG in low-scoring match-ups. When two compact sides meet, our under 2.5 goals selections and NG (no goal) outcomes often fit better than picking a winner.
- Handicaps for the strongest clubs at home. Short prices on the elite sides rarely give value on the match result alone; a handicap line reflects the expected margin.
- Draw-inclusive bets in head-to-head games. When one club is content with a point, double chance tips on that side can fit.
- HT/FT on slow starters. Some sides draw at half-time and win late; our HT/FT picks flag those.
Example Two defensive mid-table clubs meet on a Sunday afternoon. Under 2.5 goals is priced 1.62. A ₦4,000 stake returns ₦6,480 if the game ends with two goals or fewer (₦2,480 profit). A 2-1 result loses the bet, so we only post this when both sides’ recent numbers point to few clear chances.
How to use our La Liga predictions on match days
Friday and Monday matches appear in the Today tab on the day. The Weekend tab groups Saturday and Sunday, which is where most of a round sits. Filter by market to see only goals or result picks, and check the results table before following a market you have not used before.
If you combine Spanish picks with other leagues, remember that a Monday-night LaLiga match keeps a weekend slip open until late on Monday, which ties up your stake for an extra day. Our accumulator calculator shows how much each added leg lifts the return and the risk.
LaLiga odds change most after line-ups are confirmed, so a pick posted the day before may be at a different price by kick-off. Compare with other leagues on the predictions hub, or see our Serie A picks and English top-flight tips.

Frequently asked questions
By head-to-head record first. For two clubs, the goal difference across their two meetings decides; for three or more, a mini-table of points between them comes first. Overall goal difference and goals scored only apply if the clubs are still level after that.
A 21:00 kick-off in Spain starts at 21:00 WAT from late October to late March, because both countries are then on UTC+1. From late March to late October Spain is on summer time, so the same game starts at 20:00 WAT.
Three. The bottom three clubs drop into the Segunda División. They are replaced by the Segunda's top two and the winner of a play-off between the clubs finishing third to sixth there.
The strongest Spanish clubs win a high share of home matches, so bookmakers price them low and many punters back them, keeping prices short. At around 1.20 one upset can wipe out several wins, which is why we often prefer a handicap line on those games.
