A draw no bet prediction backs one team to win, and if the match ends level your stake is returned. Each pick above is a side we expect to win where a draw is a real possibility, so the refund is worth paying for. This page shows how DNB prices are built, how they compare with double chance and Asian handicap 0, and when we prefer this market.
How a DNB pick is settled
There are three possible outcomes for your bet: your team wins and you are paid at the DNB odds; the match is drawn and your stake comes back; your team loses and the stake is gone. Settlement uses the 90-minute score. For a fuller explanation, including how bookmakers label the market, read our draw no bet guide.
When we choose draw no bet over other markets
DNB is the middle ground between a straight win and double chance. We use it most when:
- a favourite is priced around 1.80 to 2.40 in a match that could easily finish level;
- an underdog away side is in good form and we expect it not to lose, but a draw would not earn much on X2;
- both teams draw often, so a straight win carries too much risk for the price.
When the favourite is priced under 1.50, DNB odds become too short to be worth it, and a straight win or a handicap usually serves you better.
DNB vs double chance vs Asian handicap 0
These three are close relatives, and choosing the right one depends on what you want from a draw. Asian handicap 0 is the same bet as draw no bet under another name: a level score returns your stake. You can compare prices on our Asian handicap tips, and sometimes one bookmaker lists a slightly better price under the handicap label. Double chance 1X or X2 treats the draw as a win, at shorter odds.
| Result | Straight win 2.10 | DNB 1.48 | 1X 1.30 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home win | ₦6,300 | ₦4,440 | ₦3,900 |
| Draw | ₦0 | ₦3,000 | ₦3,900 |
| Away win | ₦0 | ₦0 | ₦0 |
The table shows the trade. DNB gives up ₦1,860 of the straight win’s return to protect the stake on a draw; 1X gives up a further ₦540 to make a ₦900 profit on a draw. For the full comparison of the two protected markets, see our double chance tips.
How DNB odds are worked out
A quick way to estimate a fair DNB price is: win odds × (1 − 1 ÷ draw odds). With a home price of 2.10 and a draw at 3.40, that is 2.10 × (1 − 0.294) = 1.48. If a bookmaker offers 1.40, the margin is heavy; if it offers 1.50, take it. Most DNB odds on our list fall between 1.35 and 2.20, implying roughly 74% to 45% of the decisive results going our way.
Home or away: where a DNB pick adds most
DNB on a home favourite is the more familiar use, but it often adds more value on the away side. Draws are common when a stronger team travels, because hosts set up to frustrate. A straight away win leaves you exposed to that, while X2 at around 1.30 pays little. Away DNB, often 1.60 to 1.90 for a good visitor, keeps a useful price and still refunds a 0-0.
For a home side, DNB is most useful when the host is the better team but has drawn a lot at home, a pattern you can check against our home win tips for the same day. If a team is good enough that you would happily give a goal start, a full handicap line pays more than DNB.
We also avoid this market in matches with very low draw risk, such as two weak defences meeting, because the refund costs money you are unlikely to use. That is when our DNB list stays shorter than usual.
The data behind each DNB pick
- Defeat rate. We want the chosen team losing rarely, ideally in fewer than three of its last ten at that venue.
- Draw tendency. A high draw rate for both sides is a reason to prefer DNB over the straight win.
- xG and chance quality. We back teams whose results are supported by performance, not late lucky goals.
- Team news. Absences in defence matter most, because a DNB pick loses only on defeat.
- Price. We compare our win-and-draw estimate with the DNB price before publishing.
Example You back an away side at 2.00 on draw no bet with ₦2,000. A win returns ₦4,000 (₦2,000 profit). A 1-1 draw returns your ₦2,000. A defeat costs ₦2,000. Over ten such bets with 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats you would get back ₦26,000 from ₦20,000 staked.
Common DNB mistakes
- Using DNB on heavy favourites where it pays almost nothing.
- Forgetting that in an accumulator a drawn DNB leg is normally settled at odds of 1.00, so the slip continues at reduced total odds rather than losing.
- Treating a refund as a win when tracking results; it is neither profit nor loss.
- Not shopping around: DNB prices often differ between bookmakers, and a 1.44 at one site may be 1.52 at another.
How to read the DNB picks and results above
Filter by “Draw no bet” to see these selections. Each row shows the team we back, the DNB price at publication, the kick-off in WAT and a confidence score from 1 to 5. In the results table, a drawn match appears as void, a win as won and a defeat as lost, so the 30-day ROI reflects refunds accurately. Frequently asked questions
Yes. Both refund your stake if the match is drawn, pay out if your team wins and lose if it loses. The names differ by bookmaker, and prices can differ slightly, so compare both listings before you place the bet. Our Asian handicap page covers other lines too.
Most bookmakers treat it as void and recalculate the slip as if that leg had odds of 1.00. The rest of the accumulator stays live at a lower total. A few bookmakers handle it differently, so check the rules section of your betting site first.
Neither is better in general. DNB pays more when your team wins but only returns the stake on a draw. Double chance pays a small profit on a draw but less on a win. Choose DNB when you expect a win and see the draw as a risk to insure.
Yes, and it is often where DNB works best. An underdog at 3.20 to win might be about 2.20 on DNB, which keeps a decent price while protecting the stake if it holds the favourite to a draw. It still loses if the favourite wins.
