Asian handicap prediction picks for today on half, whole and quarter-goal lines, with the draw removed so each bet has two sides and, on some lines, a refund.

An Asian handicap gives one team a virtual goal start or deficit and removes the draw, leaving two possible outcomes. Our picks above name the team, the line and the odds; this page shows exactly how every type of line settles, with Naira examples, so you can judge each pick yourself. For the basic idea of a handicap, read what a handicap means in betting.
The three types of Asian handicap line
Half-goal lines (−0.5, +1.5, −2.5)
No refund is possible because the adjusted score can never be level. −0.5 is the same as backing the team to win; +0.5 is the same as win or draw.
Whole-goal lines (0, −1, +2)
If the adjusted score is level, your stake comes back. The 0 line is identical to draw no bet.
Quarter-goal lines (−0.25, −0.75, +1.25)
Your stake is split equally between the two nearest lines. A −0.75 bet is half on −0.5 and half on −1, so a one-goal win pays half and refunds half.
| Line | Wins by 2+ | Wins by 1 | Draw |
|---|---|---|---|
| −0.25 | Win | Win | Half lost |
| −0.5 | Win | Win | Lost |
| −0.75 | Win | Half won | Lost |
| −1 | Win | Refund | Lost |
| −1.5 | Win | Lost | Lost |
Handicap bets settle on 90 minutes plus stoppage time at most bookmakers. Exact rules vary by bookmaker, including whether a line is applied from kick-off or from the score when you bet in-play, so check before staking.
Worked examples in Naira
Example −1 at 2.20, stake ₦2,000. A 2–0 win returns ₦4,400 (₦2,400 profit). A 1–0 win refunds your ₦2,000. A draw or defeat loses the stake.
Example −0.75 at 2.05, stake ₦2,000, so ₦1,000 goes on −0.5 and ₦1,000 on −1. A 1–0 win pays ₦2,050 on the first half and refunds ₦1,000 on the second: ₦3,050 back, a profit of ₦1,050. A 3–1 win returns ₦4,100.
Example An underdog on +0.25 at 2.00, stake ₦1,000. In a 1–1 draw, ₦500 on +0.5 returns ₦1,000 and ₦500 on 0 is refunded: ₦1,500 back. A defeat loses the full ₦1,000.
Reading a line from both sides
Every Asian line is a mirror. If the home team is −0.75, the away team is +0.75 on the same market, and the two prices together reflect the bookmaker’s view of the match. Some sites write quarter lines as split numbers, so −0.75 can appear as “−0.5, −1” and +0.25 as “0, +0.5”. They mean the same bet.
The underdog side follows the same split rules. On +0.75, half your stake is on +0.5 and half on +1: a draw wins both halves, while a one-goal defeat loses the +0.5 half and refunds the +1 half, so you get half your stake back. A defeat by two or more loses the lot.
When a pick above says “Away +0.75”, read it as a bet that the underdog avoids defeat, with half your stake back if it loses narrowly. That one-line view is quicker than working through the table each time.
Quarter lines exist because they let a bookmaker price matches that sit between two whole numbers. If a favourite is expected to win by a little under a goal on average, −0.75 is often the line where both sides are close to even money.
When an Asian handicap beats a 1X2 bet
- Short-priced favourites. If the home win is 1.30, a −1 or −1.25 line can pay near 2.00 when you expect a comfortable win.
- Close matches. If you lean towards one side but fear a draw, 0 or −0.25 cuts the damage from a draw.
- Underdogs who rarely lose heavily. +1 or +1.5 pays when a strong team wins narrowly, which plain 1X2 picks cannot do.
Bookmakers also apply a smaller margin on main handicap lines than on many other markets, so the prices on the two sides often add up closer to a fair book.
The numbers behind our handicap picks
- Goal difference profile. How often each team wins or loses by one goal versus by two or more, home and away.
- Expected goals difference. xG for minus xG against shows whether recent margins were deserved.
- Team news. Missing strikers cut winning margins; a missing centre-back raises the underdog’s chances.
- Motivation. A favourite already through in a cup, or resting players before a bigger game, often wins by less.
- Our line vs theirs. We estimate a fair handicap and only publish when the bookmaker’s price is better than it should be.
Asian handicap mistakes that cost punters
- Misreading quarter lines. −0.75 is not “win by one”; a one-goal win only pays half.
- Comparing odds across different lines. 1.90 on −1 and 1.90 on −1.5 are very different bets.
- Forgetting the refund in your sums. A refunded leg in an accumulator usually counts at odds of 1.00, which shrinks the total payout.
- Betting big handicaps late in the season on favourites with nothing left to play for.

How our Asian handicap picks are settled and shown
Each pick above shows the team, the line, the odds when published and a confidence score from 1 to 5. Unlike corners or cards, handicap picks settle automatically from the final score, and quarter lines show as half-won or half-lost where that applies. Even so, we keep handicaps out of our odds slips such as the 2 odds slip, because refunds and split stakes make slip maths messy and the variance is higher.
Use the market filter to show only Asian handicap picks, then check the 30-day results table to see how the line performed rather than just the match result. For other markets, the betting tips hub lists every page.

Frequently asked questions
Your stake is split between the 0 line and the −0.5 line. If your team wins, both halves win. If the match is drawn, the 0 half is refunded and the −0.5 half loses, so you get half your stake back. A defeat loses everything.
Yes. On a 0 line your team must win for the bet to pay, a draw refunds your stake and a defeat loses it. The two markets settle the same way, though prices can differ slightly between them at the same bookmaker.
Your team starts with a 1.5-goal head start. The bet wins if they win, draw or lose by exactly one goal, and loses if they lose by two or more. There is no refund on half-goal lines because the adjusted score can never be level.
At most bookmakers they do not. Handicap markets normally settle on 90 minutes plus stoppage time, so a goal in extra time or a penalty shoot-out does not change the result. Some cup markets are labelled to include extra time; read the market name carefully.
Bookmakers move the handicap line until both teams are roughly equal chances, then add a small margin. That is why the main line usually sits around 1.85 to 2.00 per side. Our odds calculator shows the implied probability of any price.
