A draw prediction is the hardest call in football betting and often the best-paid result market, which is why our draw list is short and selective. Each pick above is a match where we think a level score is more likely than the bookmaker’s price suggests. Below you will find when draws become more likely, the data we check, the odds you should expect and why no draw is ever sure.

What a draw pick means for your bet

A draw is the “X” in the three-way market, and it wins only if the score is level after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. 0-0, 1-1 and 2-2 all count. Extra time and penalties are ignored, so a cup tie level at full time is a winning draw. For a full explanation of the symbols, read our 1X2 guide.

When a draw becomes more likely

Draws are not random noise. Across the last ten Premier League seasons about 23% of matches finished level, and the rate climbs in certain conditions:

  • Evenly matched sides. When the home and away prices are close, for example 2.70 and 2.80, neither team has a clear edge and the draw’s share grows.
  • Low-scoring matches. Fewer goals mean fewer chances for the score to separate. If the under 2.5 goals price is short, the draw usually deserves a look; see our over/under 2.5 picks for the goals view.
  • Low-scoring leagues. Competitions with a low goals-per-game average, often second tiers and tactically cautious top flights, tend to produce more draws than high-scoring ones.
  • Late-season situations. In the final weeks, a point can suit both sides: one needs it to stay up, the other to secure a place in the table. Both coaches may settle once level.
  • Cautious coaches. Teams that sit deep away from home and create little turn tight games into stalemates.

The data behind each draw pick

  1. Draw rate by venue. How often each team has drawn at home or away over the last 10 to 15 matches.
  2. Combined expected goals. We favour games where the two sides together average under about 2.3 xG.
  3. Price gap. Small differences between the home and away odds point to a balanced contest.
  4. Match context. Table position, what a point is worth to each side and fixture congestion.
  5. Value test. We only publish when our estimate beats the implied chance of the draw price.

Typical draw odds and what they imply

Most draw prices fall between 2.80 and 3.60. At 2.80 the bookmaker implies 35.7%; at 3.60 it implies 27.8%. The shorter end appears in tight, low-scoring games; the longer end where one side is a clear favourite. Draws above 4.00 are usually mismatches, and we rarely tip them.

Example You stake ₦1,000 on a draw at 3.25 and it lands: ₦3,250 back, ₦2,250 profit. Over 20 draw tips at that price you need 7 winners to be ahead (₦22,750 back from ₦20,000 staked). With 6 winners you would be ₦500 down. The break-even rate at 3.25 is 30.8%, so a draw strategy is judged over months, not a single weekend.

Staking draw tips over a long run

Because the hit rate is low, how you stake matters more on draws than on any other result market. Use the same flat stake on every draw, for example ₦500, rather than raising it after a loss. A flat stake lets a 31% to 35% hit rate show its true value, while increasing stakes after misses turns a normal losing run into a large hole.

Keep a simple record of each bet: the date, the match, the price and the outcome. After 40 or 50 bets, compare your hit rate with the average break-even rate of the prices you took. If you are at 29% while your average odds of 3.30 need 30.3%, you are close but still losing, and the fix is better selection, not bigger stakes. The results table above does the same job for our own draw picks.

Sure draws and fixed draws

Plenty of channels sell “sure” draws, often three at a time. No draw is certain. If each of three draws at 3.20 has a realistic 30% chance, the chance all three land is about 2.7%, roughly 1 in 37, yet the treble pays only 32.77. The maths works against you before any match starts.

Anyone charging for “fixed draws” is running a scam. If they truly knew a result in advance they would not need your ₦5,000 fee. Our draw picks are opinions based on data, and you can check every one in the results table.

Common mistakes with draw tips

  • “A draw is due”. A team that has not drawn in eight games is not more likely to draw next; each match is independent.
  • Backing draws in mismatches. A big price on X in a match with a 1.30 favourite is usually big for a reason.
  • Too many draws on one slip. Three or four X picks together almost never land, as the treble maths above shows.
  • Quitting after a bad run. At 30% hit rates, losing streaks of six or seven are normal.

How draw tips fit with other markets

If you like a draw but want a bigger price, the 1-1 or 0-0 lines on our correct score tips pay more but hit less often. If you only expect the first half to be level, the X/1 and X/X options on our half time/full time picks are worth a look. And if you suspect a stalemate but still slightly favour one team, draw no bet selections return your stake on a level score.

How to read the draw tips and results above

Filter by “Draw” to see only X selections. Each row shows the kick-off in WAT, the draw price we took and a confidence score from 1 to 5. Because draws win less often than favourites, even our highest-rated draws carry modest confidence, and a 3 is a strong draw call. The results table records every draw pick, today’s and past days’, with the final score, so you can measure the hit rate against the 30 to 35% the prices need.
