SportyBet is one of the most widely used betting apps in Nigeria, and for most football punters it is a sound choice: it is on the Lagos licence register, deposits start at ₦100 and withdrawals to mobile wallets are usually quick. This SportyBet review looks at where it is strong, where the fine print matters and who would be better served elsewhere.

Who runs SportyBet and which licence covers it

SportyBet belongs to the Sporty group, which also runs the brand in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda and South Africa. The Nigerian side appears under two company names. The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) register lists Marawin Limited with the trade name Sportybet for online sports betting and online casino, valid from 5 January 2026 to 4 January 2027. The National Lottery Regulatory Commission list names Sporty Internet Limited for SportyBet, with a permit period running to 2028.

The NLRC entry matters less than it used to. Since the Supreme Court judgment of 22 November 2024, the NLRC regulates lotteries and betting only in the Federal Capital Territory, while each state licenses betting inside its own borders. For a punter in Lagos, the LSLGA entry is the one that gives you a regulator to complain to. Our guide on whether betting is legal in Nigeria explains how the state system works.

The Lagos register does not print licence numbers, only company, trade name and dates, so check that the 2027 end date has not passed when you read this.

The SportyBet first-deposit gift and other offers

New customers get a 150% first-deposit bonus, credited as free bet gifts rather than withdrawable cash. Recent reviews from 2026 agree on two points: the gifts must be used on real sports (not virtuals) at minimum odds of 3.15, and only one gift can go on each betslip. They disagree on the cap, with figures from ₦15,000 to ₦100,000 quoted, and on the qualifying deposit. Because of that, we show only the parts that match across sources. Open the promotion page in the app and read the current tiers before you fund the account.

Worked example: suppose a ₦2,000 first deposit earns the full 150%, giving ₦3,000 in gifts. You place a ₦3,000 gift on a three-leg accumulator priced at 3.30. If it wins, the slip returns ₦9,900. On most free bet systems the gift stake is not paid back, so the cash you receive would be about ₦6,900. Check the gift terms for how SportyBet settles it.

Beyond the welcome gift, SportyBet is known for a multi-bet bonus that adds a percentage to winning accumulators as you add legs, plus regular odds boosts. The percentage ladder changes, so use our accumulator calculator to see the base return before any boost.

Opening and verifying a SportyBet account

  1. Open sportybet.com/ng or the app and tap Register.
  2. Enter your Nigerian mobile number and choose a password.
  3. Type in the verification code sent by SMS.
  4. Make your first deposit from the Deposit page, then check that the welcome gift shows in your account.
  5. Before your first withdrawal, add a bank account in exactly the same name you registered with. Mismatched names are the most common reason a payout is refused.

SportyBet may ask for identity documents if your account is reviewed, so keep a valid ID and a matching bank account ready.

Football coverage, NPFL and other sports

Reviewers count more than 20 sports. Football carries most of the volume: the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, the Champions League and AFCON, plus the Nigeria Premier Football League, which many international books skip. Basketball, tennis, cricket, rugby and ice hockey are also there, along with eSports titles such as Dota 2 and League of Legends.

Market depth on a big Premier League match is good for the usual punter (1X2, goals lines, both teams to score, handicaps, corners, cards) but thinner than at 1xBet-style books on player props. If you build long accumulators, start with our SportyBet booking codes page to see how shared slips are structured.

In-play, Sporty TV streams and cash out

Live betting is a SportyBet strength. The in-play screen refreshes quickly and the app shows free streams for selected matches, which the Apple App Store listing describes as watching games in real time while you bet. Coverage is patchy for smaller leagues, and streams use far more data than the betting screens.

Cash out is available in full or in part on eligible bets, which lets you bank some profit from an accumulator and leave the rest running. It is not offered on every market, so the button may not appear on every slip.

Sporty Games: Aviator, casino and virtuals

The Games section carries the crash game Aviator, slots and an in-house casino, plus virtual football that runs around the clock. The App Store listing also mentions Sporty Penalty, a quick virtual penalty game. Remember that the welcome gifts exclude virtuals. For how crash games work and why they drain balances fast, read our Aviator guide.

The SportyBet app on Android and iPhone

Android users download an APK from sportybet.com/ng rather than from Google Play, which means allowing installs from unknown sources in your phone settings. Only download from the official site. iPhone users get the app from the App Store, where it carries a 4.7 rating in some countries. The betting screens are light on data, which is one reason the app is popular on budget phones and 3G, but streaming changes that quickly.

Funding and cashing out in Naira

Deposits start at ₦100 and can be made by bank transfer, USSD, debit card, OPay or PalmPay. Withdrawals go to a Nigerian bank account or to OPay and PalmPay. Reviewers in 2025 and 2026 report OPay and PalmPay payouts landing in roughly 5 to 20 minutes, with bank transfers slower, especially at weekends. Some reviewers list a minimum withdrawal as low as ₦1 and a ₦9,999,999 ceiling per transaction, but SportyBet does not publish these on a page we could read, so treat both figures as unconfirmed and check the cashier.

Tip: if a withdrawal stalls, check that the bank account name matches your SportyBet name exactly and that no bonus funds are still locked in your balance.

Getting help from SportyBet

Support runs through live chat in the app and on the website, email and phone lines. Reviewers describe live chat as the fastest route for simple payment questions, with email slower for disputes. If a complaint about a Lagos account is not resolved, you can escalate to the LSLGA, which runs a complaints channel.

Is SportyBet right for you?

Choose SportyBet if you bet small stakes on football from your phone, like sharing booking codes and want wallet withdrawals that arrive quickly. Look elsewhere if you want a cash welcome bonus with simple terms or the widest player markets. Bet9ja has a larger retail network, and BetKing is the closest match for accumulator punters. Compare all licensed options on our best betting sites page, and set a budget before you start.

9.3/10

Our verdict on SportyBet

SportyBet suits Nigerian punters who bet mostly on football from a phone, want low stakes and want their winnings in an OPay or PalmPay wallet quickly. It sits on the 2026 Lagos register, offers full and partial cash out, booking codes and free in-app streams. The catch is the welcome offer: it arrives as free bet gifts with a 3.15 minimum odds rule, and the full terms are only shown on the promo page, so read them before your first deposit. Punters who want deep player-prop markets will find more at larger international books.
