A 5 odds slip turns a ₦1,000 stake into about ₦5,000 if every leg wins. The ticket above is our 5 odds prediction for the day, normally three legs, taken from picks we have already published and rated at least 3 out of 5.
Can a 5 odds slip be sure?
Total odds of 5.00 imply a 20% chance, one win in five. Nobody can make that sure. A strong slip might beat the 20% line by a few points; it will still lose most days. The point of a good 5-odds ticket is that when it does land, it pays enough to cover the losing days and leave something over.
That changes how you should use it. Stake the same small amount each day, expect four or five losses in a row from time to time, and judge it over a month. Treat social media offers of guaranteed 5 odds with suspicion: if a seller could really hit 5.00 every day, ₦1,000 would grow past ₦3 million in five days of rolling.
Why three legs is the sweet spot for 5 odds
You can reach 5.00 with two, three, four or five legs. The fewer you use, the higher each price must be; the more you use, the more bookmaker margin you pay. The table shows the average price needed per leg and the real chance of the slip if every price is 5% below fair.
| Legs | Average odds per leg | True chance of slip |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 2.24 | 18.1% |
| 3 | 1.71 | 17.1% |
| 4 | 1.50 | 16.3% |
| 5 | 1.38 | 15.5% |
Two legs keep more value but force you onto prices above 2.20, which usually means draws, underdogs or long goal lines. Three legs at around 1.70 sit in the range where our strongest picks tend to be priced: confident favourites, over 1.5 or 2.5 goals in open matches, and double chance on away sides. Beyond three, you pay more margin for no real gain.
Balancing a favourite with a goals pick
A treble of three home favourites looks safe but fails in the same way: one lazy favourite and the slip is dead. Mixing markets spreads the risk across different kinds of result. A typical balanced 5 odds prediction might be a home win, an over 2.5 goals line and a both-teams-to-score pick, each in a different match.
Example A home favourite at 1.55, over 2.5 goals in a second match at 1.80 and GG in a third match at 1.80. Total odds are 1.55 × 1.80 × 1.80 = 5.02. A ₦1,000 stake returns ₦5,022, a profit of ₦4,022. If our estimates for the three legs were 68%, 58% and 58%, the slip’s chance would be 0.68 × 0.58 × 0.58, or about 22.9%, a little above the 19.9% the odds imply.
That gap between our estimate and the implied chance is the only real edge on any slip. When it is not there, the builder leaves the slip out. For more on the goals legs, see our daily over 2.5 picks and GG picks for today.
How the 5 odds slip is assembled
- Pool today’s picks. Every published prediction for the day is a candidate.
- Keep the confident ones. Anything rated below 3 out of 5 is dropped.
- One leg per fixture. No two legs come from the same match.
- Favour prices that fit. Legs priced to reach about 5.00 in roughly three steps are preferred.
- Leave out volatile markets. Correct score, HT/FT, corners, cards, scorers and shots are never used.
- Publish or pause. If no honest treble exists, the page says the slip is not ready.
Smaller or bigger than 5 odds?
If 5.00 already feels like a stretch, the 3 odds slip uses a double and wins more often. If you want a bigger target, the 10 odds slip adds a fourth or fifth leg, with all the extra risk that brings.
You can check the return for any combination of legs with our acca return calculator, which multiplies the prices and shows the payout for your stake.
Reading the 30-day 5 odds record
At 5.00 you break even with six wins in 30 slips: six returns of ₦5,000 cover 30 stakes of ₦1,000. Seven wins put you ₦5,000 ahead; five wins leave you ₦5,000 behind. One slip either way swings the month, so a single good or bad week tells you very little.
Losing runs are part of the deal. With a 20% chance per slip, the chance of losing eight in a row is about 17%, so it will happen a few times a year. If that would tempt you to raise the stake, a lower target suits you better.
Common mistakes with 5 odds slips
- Three legs that need the same thing. Over 2.5 in one match and GG in another are fine; over 2.5 and GG in the same game are one bet in disguise. Our GG/NG explainer covers how those markets overlap.
- Swapping a leg late. Replacing a pick that has been dropped with a random favourite breaks the logic of the slip.
- Rolling the return. A winning 5.00 slip pays well; putting the whole ₦5,000 on tomorrow’s treble loses it about four days in five.
Check the price at your own bookmaker before placing the slip. If each of three legs is 0.05 lower than listed, a 5.02 treble can drop to about 4.6, and your break-even rises from six wins in 30 to about seven.

Frequently asked questions
Three is the usual sweet spot. Each leg then needs odds of about 1.70, a range where many confident picks are priced, and you pay less bookmaker margin than on a four or five-leg ticket. Two legs at 2.20 or more work too but often rely on riskier outcomes.
The odds imply about one win in five. To make a profit at a flat stake you need more than six wins in every 30 slips. A good month might bring seven or eight, a bad one three or four, which is why judging it over weeks rather than days matters.
You can, but adding legs changes the bet. Each new selection multiplies the odds and lowers the chance of the whole ticket landing. If you want a bigger payout, look at our ready-made 10 odds slip instead of bolting extra games onto the treble.
Those markets can raise the odds quickly, but their results swing on single moments such as a late corner or a deflected goal. The slip is meant to land as often as its price allows, so it sticks to match result, double chance, goals lines and GG/NG.
