  10. Should you choose 888Starz?

888Starz began as an international brand licensed in Curaçao and, according to reports from 2025 and 2026, added a Nigerian state licence from Ondo. This 888Starz review weighs whether that makes it a sensible pick for Nigerian punters. It is a strong product for experienced bettors who want breadth and crypto, but the licence details and cashier limits are less transparent than at Lagos-registered rivals.

Who is behind 888Starz and the Ondo licence question

The brand has operated since 2020 under a Curaçao licence, numbered 8048/JAZ2020-048 in several reviews. In April 2025 its affiliate team announced it had received an official licence from Nigerian regulators, and an October 2026 Nigerian review names Ondo State as the issuer. One review goes further, citing betting licence No. 0019 and casino licence No. 0020 from the Ondo State Pool Betting and Lotteries Board, held by a Nigerian company. We could not check those numbers against a public Ondo register, so we treat the licence as stated but unconfirmed.

The brand does not appear on the Lagos or NLRC lists. A state licence is valid in the issuing state, so the protection a Lagos resident gets is less clear than with a Lagos-registered operator. Read our guide on Nigerian betting law for the background.

The four-deposit welcome package

New sports players can claim matched bonuses on their first four deposits: 100% on the first, 50% on the second and 25% on each of the third and fourth. Each part is capped at roughly ₦140,000, giving a total of about ₦560,000; the exact Naira figure moves with the exchange rate, which is why reviews quote anything from ₦557,053 to ₦563,200. The qualifying deposit is about ₦1,400.

The rollover is 5x the bonus on accumulators with at least three selections, and at least three of those selections must be priced at 1.40 or higher.

Worked example: deposit ₦20,000 and the first-deposit match gives ₦20,000 of bonus. You must then place ₦100,000 in qualifying accumulators. Five slips of ₦20,000, each with three legs at 1.40 or more, would complete it if the bonus balance survives. A second deposit of ₦20,000 adds only ₦10,000 (50%) and needs ₦50,000 more turnover. Sources disagree on the deadline (7 or 30 days), so confirm it in the bonus terms.

Regular offers reported in 2025 and 2026 include a 50% Tuesday reload with its own 5x rollover, odds boosters of up to 50%, cashback of up to 11% for casino VIP levels, a Lucky Ticket draw and an Accumulator of the Day. Compare it with other offers on our bonuses page and check slip returns with the accumulator calculator.

Registering and passing KYC

  1. Open the 888Starz site or Android app and choose Registration.
  2. Pick a method: phone number, email, social login or one-click sign-up, and choose NGN as your account currency.
  3. Enter a promo code if you have one, and opt in to the sports welcome bonus.
  4. Fill in your profile (name, date of birth, address) so it matches your ID.
  5. Upload identity documents when asked. Reviewers report KYC friction, so do this before your first withdrawal rather than after.

Sports coverage, esports and specials

The operator lists more than 30 sports and esports lines; Nigerian reviews count 37 or more, with more than 1,600 football markets. Football leads, followed by basketball, tennis, cricket, volleyball and ice hockey. Esports such as Counter-Strike, Dota 2 and Valorant are well covered, and there are specials on politics and entertainment.

Live betting, streaming and cash out

In-play betting is one of the strengths. Reviewers confirm live streaming of selected matches, a Multi-Live view for following several games, and cash out on selected tickets. A Bet Constructor tool is also listed. See our live betting guide before you try fast in-play markets.

Casino, Aviator and virtual sports

The casino holds slots, table games, crash games including Aviator, a live dealer section and the brand’s own 888Games titles. Virtual sports run around the clock. The casino welcome package is separate from the sports offer and carries a much heavier 35x rollover, so do not confuse the two.

Android APK and iPhone access

Android users download an APK from the website, as the app is not on Google Play; there is also a lighter progressive web app. Nigerian reviews agree there is no iOS app on the local App Store, so iPhone users add the site to their home screen from Safari. Our apps guide explains safe APK installs.

Naira and crypto payments

Reported Naira options include bank transfer and cards, plus Skrill and AstroPay. Crypto deposits (Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT and others) are a standout. One 2025 review also lists OPay and PalmPay, but a 2026 review says direct support is not confirmed, so check the cashier.

Minimum amounts are quoted inconsistently, from ₦100 to ₦1,700 for deposits and ₦300 to ₦4,000 for withdrawals, and payout estimates range from minutes to several days by method. Treat all of these as unconfirmed. Start with a small withdrawal to the method you deposited with, after KYC is complete.

Support channels

Live chat runs 24/7 according to the operator, with email as a second channel; one reviewer reports chat connecting in under two minutes and email answers in about five to six hours.

Should you choose 888Starz?

Pick it if you want esports, streaming and crypto deposits and are comfortable with an operator licensed outside Lagos. If a Lagos register entry matters more, look at BetKing, or compare crypto-friendly sites on our crypto betting page. Bet only what you can afford to lose.

7.9/10

Our verdict on 888Starz

888Starz suits experienced punters who want a very wide sportsbook, esports, live streaming and the option to deposit in crypto. The four-part welcome package carries a fair 5x rollover, though the three-leg accumulator rule limits how you clear it. The catches are paperwork: the Ondo licence is reported but its number is not visible on a public register, deposit and withdrawal minimums are quoted inconsistently, and reviewers mention slow identity checks. Keep KYC documents ready and start with a small withdrawal.

888Starz FAQ

888Starz holds a Curaçao licence and, according to reports from 2025 and 2026, an Ondo State licence. We could not confirm the Ondo licence numbers on a public register, and the brand is not on the Lagos or NLRC lists, so protection outside Ondo is less clear.
